Delivered to the Woman and Gender in Architecture and Design interest group of the EAHN, this paper focused upon the way in which Chloethiel Woodard Smith’s role in exhibitions held in Washington in 1939, in Montreal in 1941, Havana in 1950, and Moscow in 1958, furthered her career through service to the larger architectural community. In doing so, it drew heavily upon the letters endorsing her receipt of fellowship of the American Institute of Architects, an honor she was one of the first women to receive.
