Kathleen James-Chakraborty – webinar, Architecture: Design and Research International Seminar organised by a research collaboration between the Manchester School of Architecture, the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Architecture and the Lusófona University

This zoom lecture focused on three aspects of the project, House Beautiful, the Belgian Friendship Building, and the career of Ethel Madison Bailey Furman, although entrepreneurship was briefly mentioned in terms of the patronage of Corina Kavanagh and Phyllis Lambert, and two design businesses, Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm and Adler Schnee in Detroit.  All were intended to make the point that women of varied backgrounds had been key to the way in which modern architecture and design were received on both sides of the Atlantic.
