The School of Architecture at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), together with PATIO, Curating for Culture, the Omitted from History Project (OMHI), and the Women of Vaastukala Archive (WoVA), will host Expanding Agency and Archival Silences: Gender in the Built Environment from 4–8 September 2026 at the Bangalore International Centre, Karnataka, India. Kathleen James-Chakraborty will deliver the “Curatorial Introduction” (virtual) on 4 September 2026.

Bringing the Expanding Agency project’s exhibition, Expanding Agency: Women, Race and the Dissemination of Modern Architecture, into the Indian context, the programme will explore whose contributions are recognised, recorded, or overlooked in architectural histories.

The programme will include panels, workshops, and exhibition walk-throughs.
